Our staff has decades of combined experience in dentistry, each with unique talents, and many have been with us for more than 15 years. Dr. Michael T. Smith
Dr. Michael Smith was raised in New Melle, a small town in Missouri. He attended St. Louis University High School, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and finally SIU School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2011. Dr. Smith joined Dr. Feder in 2013 as an employee and decided to invest his future in Belleville by purchasing the office in 2017.
He joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 2009 and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel serving as the Illinois State Dental Officer. During the summer of 2022, he deployed overseas to Poland to provide dental care to US soldiers stationed throughout the country. Currently, Dr. Smith spends his duty weekends in Springfield, Illinois screening soldiers from across the state for dental problems and administrating the national guard’s statewide dental health program.
Dr. Smith enjoys spending time restoring his 1860s home, where he lives with his wife and children. He is also interested in fitness, healthy eating, woodworking, automotive repair, and meeting the office’s IT needs. He recently rekindled his passion for wrestling both by coaching and training for competition!
Dr. Snowber Fazili
Dr. Nicholas Swanson
Dr. Nicholas Swanson was raised in Mascoutah, Illinois, and remained in the local area to attend SIUE for college. He first entered the dental field in 2019 as an assistant to Dr. Smith, and later graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2024.
Initially, he joined the Air National Guard right after high school in 2013, but he is currently serving as a Captain in the Dental Corps of the Illinois Army National Guard, stationed at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois.
In his personal time, Dr. Swanson enjoys spending time with his wife, hosting events with family and friends, and trying to find the right hobby to immerse himself in.
Dr. Steven Newbold
Dr. Steven Newbold began his academic journey at SIU-Edwardsville, where he majored in Biology and Chemistry. He then went on to attend Washington University School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1977. Dr. Newbold then embarked on a fulfilling career, practicing dentistry in New Athens, IL. for nearly 25 years, in addition to serving at the Illinois Department of Corrections starting in 1985. During his tenure, he held the positions of staff dentist and Dental Director at the Menard Correctional Center, until his retirement in 2018.
In 2022, Dr. Smith was deployed to Poland prompting the request of Dr. Newbold to oversee limited responibilities in his absence. Dr. Newbold agreed, and has found immense pleasure from his office work, hence his decision to extend his career with us to three days a week.
Dr. Newbold and his wife have four children and eleven grandchildren. He has been active in his community, having served on the School Board and is currently on the Village Board as a Trustee. He enjoys travelling, cooking, golf, and attending numerous grandkids' sporting events.
Dawn
Office Manager
Dawn is trained as a certified dental assistant and also helps patients as our office manager. She enjoys working in our dental practice, where we genuinely care about our patients and a staff that works hard to provide excellent care and the best possible experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
A native of Belleville, Illinois, Dawn has been with our dental team since 2001. In her free time, you’ll find Dawn spending time with family, hiking, camping, or reading.

Bella's life journey brought her from Marshall County, Kentucky, to Belleville in 2015, and eventually to our dental practice in 2022. With a passion for helping others and a drive to succeed, Bella is an invaluable member of our team.
When not working, she loves to spend time with friends and family, creating lasting memories and making the most of every moment.
Joy
Patient Reception
With over 16 years of experience, Joy is an accomplished dental professional committed to delivering exceptional care and support to her patients. Her expertise includes benefit verification, scheduling, and treatment planning, ensuring a seamless experience for patients.
Outside of work, Joy values time with loved ones and pursues interests in health and fitness, as well as cooking. She is also a member of AADOM.
Carol
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Carol has been providing expert dental hygiene care to our patients since 1981. She grew up in Granite City, Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Carol loves helping our patients and learning about their families, many of whom have become friends over the years. She also enjoys working with such a fantastic team of professionals.
Carol and her husband Gary have been living in Maryville for 35 years, and she values spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, you might find Carol traveling, boating, baking, or reading.
Cheryl
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Cheryl received her dental hygienist training at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and has been a member of our team since 1988. She loves the fun, energetic atmosphere of our office and enjoys meeting new patients and helping them with their oral health.
A native of rural Mascoutah, IL, Cheryl enjoys country line dancing and spending free time with her family and pets.
Erin
Dental Hygienist
Erin came on board with our practice in 2021, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. A graduate of Missouri College in 2015, Erin holds a bachelor's degree in education and kinesiology. Dedicated to fostering strong relationships with her patients and educating them on the importance of oral health, Erin is a valuable asset to our team.
Erin's leisure time is spent enjoying activities with family, watching football games at Arrowhead and tending to her garden.
Jackie
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
With a career in the dental field spanning over two decades, Jackie started as a Dental Assistant in 1996. She later graduated from St. Louis Community College's Dental Hygiene program in 2000. In 2020, she expanded her skillset by obtaining a certification in Public Health Dental Hygiene.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Jackie relishes spending time with her children and supporting their diverse sporting pursuits. She aspires to retire and dedicate her time to her own hobbies and interests.

Dental Hygienist
Upon graduating from John A. Logan College in 2014, Katie embarked on her commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. She takes the time to get to know each patient and offers education and encouragement throughout their dental journey.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children.

A native of Mascoutah, Nikki joined our ranks in 1997. Driven by a desire to make a positive impact, she revels in her role helping others.
Nikki makes the most of her free time with family and indulges in her love for baking.

Katherine is a native of Freeburg, Illinois and joined our dental practice in 2012. She received her assistant training at Advanced Dental Careers and enjoys her co-workers and getting to know our patients.
Outside of work, Katherine likes to spend time with her family.

Dental Assistant
Beth received her dental assistant training at Advanced Dental Careers. She has been working with Dr. Smith and Dr. Feder since the end of May 2014. Beth loves interacting with our patients and is happy to be working in a profession where she can help people.
Beth, a native of New Athens, Illinois, currently resides with her husband and three children. In her leisure time, you will find Beth enjoying her family, camping, or baking.

Dental Assistant
Originally from a small town in Central Illinois, Alana relocated to Millstadt in 2023. She joined our team in March of 2024, with 17 years of experience as a Dental Assistant. Alana is passionate about learning new skills and enjoys teaching others. Connecting with patients while ensuring that they are comfortable and relaxed is her top priority.
Outside of work Alana dedicates her time to her family. She has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy spending time at the lake and hiking.
