You want what’s best for your kids. Of course, it is at the top of your priority list! You want them to be healthy, strong, intelligent, and kind. There is a lot of learning that has to happen in order for your child to accomplish all of these things, but you can help with the process by giving your little ones the best diet possible.
We think a lot about the foods that we give our children, but when was the last time you considered the beverages that your kids consume on a daily basis? A treat every once in a while is fun and perfectly healthy, but the daily beverage choices can make or break your child’s future smile. Let’s take a look at a few examples.
Kids Don’t Need Sugary Drinks
In the past, parents were encouraged to give their children juice for the vitamin benefit. We have since realized that the damage far outweighs the benefits. In fact, the sugar content in fruit juice, sports drinks, and soda can do immense damage to your child’s smile.
Your child can get all of the vitamins and minerals he needs through fresh fruit and vegetables, without a harmful amount of sugar.
Milk is Great With Meals
Milk does the body good, right? Absolutely! However, milk really isn’t ideal for drinking throughout the day. Milk can actually cause plaque buildup, which is why we recommend that you have your child drink his daily milk with meals.
Never send a child to bed with milk in a cup or bottle. The overnight exposure to milk increases the likelihood of decay.
Water Does Wonders for the Body
The best beverage for your child to drink throughout the day is water. Now, we realize that water isn’t always a child’s first choice, but with creative choices, you can help your little one get all of the benefits of water!
Remember, a hydrated body functions better. Water benefits every system of the body, including the digestive system, the muscular system, and the nervous system.
